What to include so we can help
- A correction. Send the page address and the sentence, card or item number, and say what you think is wrong and why. If you have a source, such as the NBCC candidate handbook, the ACA Code of Ethics or the DSM-5-TR, name it. Corrections are made promptly, and when a correction changes what a post means, the post says so. The editorial policy explains how content is checked.
- A question about your state. Name the state and the license you are applying for. Rules change by state and by year, so the answer that counts is your board's: the board handles eligibility, application status and supervision, NBCC handles registration and score reports, and Pearson VUE handles scheduling. We can point you to the right office and the post that explains the step.
- A problem with the tools. Tell us the page, your browser and device, and whether you were signed in. Private browsing blocks the storage the flashcards and practice tests use, so progress may not save in a private window.
- A study question. Say which exam you are taking, your test date, and what you have tried so far. A specific question gets a specific answer.
What we cannot help with
We cannot tell you what is on your exam form or discuss real exam items: NBCC does not release its items, and candidates sign a nondisclosure agreement. We cannot rule on your eligibility or promise that a board will accept your hours or coursework; only the board can. And because this site does not provide counseling, please do not send clinical details about yourself or a client.
Other ways to reach us
Email aw@drandrewwichterman.com works for anything, including attachments such as a score report. The chat button at the bottom of each page is another way to send a short question. Counselor educators who want to use the site with a class can start at the faculty page. We keep your message and address only so we can reply, as the privacy policy explains.
