Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 24, 2026. This policy explains what information The Licensure Professor ("we", "this site") collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. The site is operated by Dr. Andrew Wichterman.
Information you give us
When you sign up for the free study plan or newsletter, we collect your email address and, if you enter it, your name. This information is stored and processed by Mailchimp (Intuit Inc.) under its own privacy policy. We use it only to send you the material you requested and occasional emails about exam preparation. Every email includes an unsubscribe link.
If you contact us through the contact page or by email, we keep your message and address so we can reply.
Live chat (Tawk.to)
Pages on this site load a live chat window provided by tawk.to (tawk.to inc.). When the chat window loads, tawk.to receives technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type and the page you are on, and it sets cookies so a conversation can continue as you move between pages. If you start a chat, it stores the messages you send and any name or email address you choose to enter.
We use chat messages only to answer you, the same way we use email, and we do not sell them. tawk.to processes this information under its own privacy policy. If you would rather not use chat, email aw@drandrewwichterman.com instead; blocking third-party cookies in your browser also limits what the chat window can store.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, this site and its hosting provider (Netlify) may log standard technical data such as IP address, browser type, pages visited and referring URL. We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect anonymous usage data such as pages visited, time on site and general location. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Advertising and cookies
This site uses Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings.
- You may opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info.
- Information about how Google uses data when you use partners' sites is at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
- You can disable cookies in your browser settings. Some site features may not work as intended without them.
Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are shown a consent message before advertising cookies are set, and can change their choice at any time through the link in the site footer.
The Licensure Professor app (iPhone and Android)
The app carries the same free course, practice questions, cases and flashcards as this site. You can use all of it without an account.
Your study progress. Without an account, your progress (lessons completed, flashcard schedule, practice history and scores, exam choice and exam date) is stored only on your device.
If you sign in. Signing in is optional. You can sign in with Apple or Google, using the same account as this site. When you do:
- We receive your name and email address from Apple or Google, and a user ID. If you choose "Hide My Email" with Apple, we receive only Apple's relay address.
- Your study progress (the same items listed above, plus any notes you saved on this site) is stored in your account in Google Firebase, so it stays in step between the app and this site.
- We use your name and email only to run your account. The app does not add you to our email list.
- Progress for the NCMHCE case practice and NCMHCE flashcards stays on your device and is not synced.
Advertising. The free app is supported by ads from Google AdMob. To show and measure ads, Google collects your device's advertising identifier, your IP address (which gives an approximate location), and information about the ads you see and tap, along with basic device and diagnostic data. In the European Economic Area, the UK, Switzerland and US states that require it, the app asks for your consent first, and you can change your choice at any time under More > Privacy choices. On iPhone, the app asks for permission before your advertising identifier can be used to track you across other companies' apps and websites; if you say no, you still see ads, but they are less personalized. Your study progress is never shared with advertisers. Google's use of this data is described at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Lesson videos. Lesson videos play from YouTube, which may collect information under Google's privacy policy when you play them.
We do not sell your personal information.
Deleting your account. In the app, open More > Account and sync > Delete account. This permanently deletes your account and all progress saved to it, in the app and on this site. You may be asked to confirm with Apple or Google first. If you used Sign in with Apple, the app also revokes its access to your Apple ID. You can also ask us to delete your account by emailing aw@drandrewwichterman.com. Signing out (without deleting) removes the synced progress from that device; it stays in your account.
Contact. Questions about the app and your data: aw@drandrewwichterman.com.

Research use of practice data
If you opt in, your practice-test responses (which item, which domain, correct or not, your confidence rating, and your self-reported stage and exam date) are stored under a hashed identifier that is not linked to your name or email, and may be analyzed to improve the questions and to study how counselors prepare for the NCE. Results may be published in aggregate only. You can withdraw at any time on My Progress; data collected before withdrawal is retained in anonymized form. Participation is voluntary and does not affect access to any feature.
Exam results you report
After your exam date we may ask, by email or on My Progress, whether you passed. Answering is optional. If you answer, your account stores your answer and anything else you choose to add (which exam, test date, first attempt or retake, your score and the passing score on your score report, how much of the study plan you followed, and a quote if you allow it), together with a summary of your study activity on this site (weeks active, practice items, lessons finished, baseline and recent practice scores). If you also opted in to research, your answer can be matched to your research practice data through the same hashed identifier. We also record that you were asked, so that response rates are reported honestly. Results are published only as anonymised totals, such as a pass rate with the number of responses; your name and email are never published, and quotes are used only with your permission and the attribution you choose. If you email a score report for verification, it is used only to check your answer and is deleted once checked. You can change or delete your answer at any time at /exam-result.
