A free NCE resource you can hand to your students
The Licensure Professor is a free, blueprint-aligned NCE preparation site built by a counselor educator. It is organized by the six scored domains of the current exam, tags every lesson with its CACREP area, and needs nothing from your program except a link. This page explains what it contains, how programs are using it, and how to cite it.
Aligned to the current NCE blueprint. Valid for exams through June 30, 2027. The redesigned exam takes effect July 1, 2027; materials will be updated ahead of that date.
What students get
- 63 short lessons organized by the six NCE domains, each tagged with its CACREP core area, with a quiz and printable notes.
- 1,000+ original practice items with rationales and distractor notes, three fixed 200-item forms, and a 25-item baseline.
- 1,100+ spaced flashcards using successive relearning, including compare-and-contrast cards for the distinctions the exam tests.
- A dashboard with a daily 20-minute plan, accuracy by domain and by cognitive level, and a readiness estimate.
- A sixteen-week study plan and exam facts page sourced to NBCC documents.
Items are original and written in the style of the exam. Nothing is drawn from the actual NCE; NBCC does not release items and candidates sign a nondisclosure agreement.
Ways programs use it
Capstone or comprehensive exam course. Assign the six domain overviews in week one and the baseline in week two; students bring their dashboard breakdown to advising. Internship seminar. The Daily 10 as a standing five-minute opener. Advising. Link the registration, scoring and state-requirements posts from your program handbook instead of maintaining your own. Alumni. Post-graduation candidates who need structure without a paid course.

What it is not
It is not affiliated with NBCC, CCE or CACREP, and it is not a guarantee of passing. Students' own preparation, coursework and clinical training determine their results. The site is free while it grows; that may change, and any change will be announced on the site well in advance.
